Rostec CEO says economy digitalization to add 11% to GDP growth

MOSCOW, Mar 12 (PRIME) -- Digitalization of the Russian economy could ensure additional growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of 11% by 2025, Sergei Chemezov, general director of state industrial corporation Rostec, said on Tuesday.

“By the most modest calculations digitalization of the economy should give some 4.5% of the GDP growth and more than 11% under an ambitious scenario in the next five–six years,” Chemezov said.

“From the point of view of the economy, digital technologies cut costs and shape new sources of income significantly by creating new products and services and integrate them into the systemic infrastructure projects.”

Digital technologies could become a locomotive and a driver of the country’s technological leadership, economic development, and social progress, the executive said.
